Follicles from the healthy donor area are grafted to the recipient area during a hair transplant surgery. The grafted hair transplants require around 7-10 days after the surgery to get a firm hold on the scalp and start growing naturally. This period is called the post-surgery recovery period.
During the recovery period, the chances of damaging the grafted hair follicles are high. In fact, even minor tension can lead to damage or grafts falling off. Hence, it is advised not to touch or wash your hair post-surgery.
With that being said, if you wear a cap after a hair transplant surgery, it can lead to tension and ultimately damage the hair follicles. This can impair the hair transplant surgery results. Hence, you cannot wear a cap after a hair transplant surgery. However, you can wear a loose cap after at least a week if you want to.
Wearing a loose cap after 7-10 days is advised.
